At edge co-working, we love our members sooooooo much! There’s nothing better than getting to know the amazing women and men who have decided to join our tribe of career-minded military spouses. Check out this month’s featured member!
This month’s featured member is Amanda Hansen and she is busy creating BIG things! She is launching the Cannon AFB chapter of In Gear Career- a FREE forum for professional development, community support, information sharing, and networking.
[editor's note: We call her Mandy. Also, there is no official rule that you must be named Amanda to join edge co-working]
Tell us about your job.
I am an air quality meteorologist working with a private consulting firm, Ecology and Environment. Our firm provides air quality services such as permitting, atmospheric modeling and monitoring, as well as environmental assessments and studies. My area of expertise is in atmospheric modeling and I use computer models to help our clients design facilities which will not cause or contribute to a violation of an air quality standard.
What are your biggest work from home challenges? [editors note: these are chosen from our list]
I feel like I'm losing my cool-factor.
My spouse & family get days off (holiday, vacation, etc) that I do not.
What made you take the plunge & join edge co-working?
I started with day tripper passes until I determined if co-working was a good fit for me. I discovered that I can be more productive and creative all while making connections with others in the community. Because of the variety of backgrounds and professions of people I have met through Edge, I have also gained insight into new technology and tools I can use to better manage my work load. But also Brooke and Jessica are the coolest co-working gurus ever! [editor can't leave a note because she's blushing too hard]
What did you do last weekend?
Attended the Cannon AFB Auction on Saturday and had friends over for lunch which turned into dinner on Sunday! [editor's note: those are the best hang-outs with friends!]
What's your favorite productivity tool?
Caffeine. ;) [editor's note: she's not joking! we've always got coffee going for Mandy!] In all seriousness...I'm old school. I like to use my franklin covey planner and a pen, but my iPhone is also essential.
Last song you played (or that Pandora/Spotify chose for you)
I Love It--Icona Pop [editor's note: omg, yes!]
Where are you from?
Where would you like to retire one day?
I actually have no idea!! I'm not sure how we will decide, but glad that we have some time!!
Come and meet Amanda at the launch event for In Gear Career on Tuesday, March 14th. This is a free event for military spouses. Click here to RSVP.
